Real Estate Investing and Family

There are so many benefits of investing in real estate. You’ve heard them a thousand times but if you haven’t…. Cash flow, appreciation and depreciation to name a few.

I started investing in real estate in 2004 as a Limited Partner or Silent Partner. This means I essentially brought a percentage of the capital for the down-payment of the deal in exchange for monthly distributions or cash flow. I didn’t need to handle any of the day-to-day operations. This model allowed me to focus on my primary business of insurance. It is a win-win model both for the investor and the operator. Fast forward to nearly 20 years later and my strategy remains the same. I continue to invest in real estate as a Limited Partner as well as a General Partner and Key Principle. I am invested in more than 8000 doors all over the country and am a Key Principle on over $500mm assets under management.

The real benefit to me is not monetary. Well, it is and it isn’t. It does circle back to cash flow but the best benefit from investing in real estate is freedom. Freedom of time to do what you want, when you, how you want, and with whom you want.

I choose to be with my family. Real Estate Investing gave me the freedom to invest in my family. It gave me the ability to invest in my relationships with my kids and my wife. It gave me freedom to be the director of my own movie and not just play role in someone else’s film.

Earn. Invest. Repeat.
